Hitoshi Matsumoto was born in Amagasaki, Hyogo, Japan and made his acting debut in 1983 on the television comedy “Downtown.” Since 1990, he has appeared in television comedies in which he displayed an original temperament that made an impression among audiences and the artistic community. In 1998, he published Visualbum, a collection of stories that revealed another side to his comic gifts. Dainipponjin (07), in which he also stars, is his first film as director.
