Je-yong Lee (also credited as E. J-yong), born in Seoul in 1966, graduated from Korea Foreign Language University, majoring in Turkish. 7th Graduation Class of Seoul Film Academy.
Lee garnered local and international critical acclaim with his short film Homo Videocus ( won Best Film at the San Francisco International Film Festival, the Vancouver International Film Festival, etc.). He directed his first documentary film, in 1993 and made his feature debut in 1998 with An Affair. His movies An Affair and Untold Scandal brought gorgeous visuals to taboo subject matter and he became known as one of Korea¹s most stylish directors. With the comic strip "Dasepo Naughty Girls," Lee was inspired by the story and subject matter to challenge society¹s conventions and make a film that breaks creative, social and moral boundaries.
