[edit] Notes

Ponyo on the Cliff is the first film in four years from the Japanese animation legend Hayao Miyazaki. The film eschews computer graphics altogether and instead uses primal hand-drawings. There were a record high 170,000 hand-drawn pictures to animate the characters and it took the one and a half years for the 70 staff members to draw.

[edit] Plot

Inspired by the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, the film tells the story of a fish-girl, Ponvo, realizing her dream of becoming a human being with the help of a five-year-old boy, Sosuke.
